MY STORY & PHILOSOPHY
I have a life long fascination with Pottery.
The shape and forms a pot takes are very real to me. They are personified, the neck, the belly and the foot.
As a high school student, my art teacher Lou Cormier paved the way for me to work with Harry Holl of Scargo Pottery. As a mentor, Harry shaped my philosophy, sense of design and process. His voice is forever present in my work.
I established, Barnstable Pottery in 2004.
It is a simple life where one thing leads to another. I am always in the middle of something - throwing, trimming, glazing and firing. In life one thing leads to another, Pottery is no exception.
My Pottery is a byproduct of the people I meet and engage with.
Conversations and interactions are integral to my process. An interruption , a certain moment in time all influence the work I make . I welcome questions as they can be inspirational and influence the direction of my day.
Most of all I enjoy the process.
Shape and proportion pose infinite challenges. Those challenges give me the ability to make changes to a more satisfied piece. Refinement is my goal.
Making pottery brings me immense pleasure...I hope that enjoyment is received by those who own one of my pieces!
